hi, my friend was asking what camera would be good to use for vlogging (video blogging) I wasn't too sure so I though i'd ask you guys
I think it needs to be around £200, and what kind of lens would be good for it?
thank you!!

Most folks use a GoPro for that. Sony and other makers also make comparable tiny cameras for that style.

Or, just get an iPhone 6+ or a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5, 16mp and Optical Image Stabilization which doubles as a phone and portable computer.

Why not use what you've already got? Both my D5300 and D7100 take very good video, and for something like a video blog it's more than suitable.

Yup i'd say go with what you have, just remember it will only do a maximum of 19:59 so you will have to reset it if going any longer

The OP is asking for advice for a friend (as I read in the first post), not for themselves. Their friend may not have a camera and that is why the OP is asking for advice.

For the OP, I have not used a GoPro, but it seems like it would be a good way to go for a video blog.

I am not talking from experience but I would think a go pro would be terrible for this. It's an ultra wide angle with a bit of fish eye to it.

Good point, and I missed that nuance.

I agree that a GoPro seems to be pretty popular, but depending on the need even just a webcam built into a laptop might be sufficient. Hard to recommend a lens without knowing more about how the camera needs to be used, but I would agree with Moab that too wide of a lens is going to be unflattering, so something closer to a standard lens would likely work best ... but depends again on the video footage they want to create.

Some of the CoolPix cameras might work out pretty good. Sound might be a problem with any of the cameras that use built in microphones but the cameras that have external microphone inputs can be a little pricey
