Hi I'm new here, and I hope to learn alot. My first real camera is a HS25EXR, it's a fuji. I just picked up a Nikon D50 from Henry's outlet store. My question is

I got a TAMRON 28-200 F3.8-5.6 used. Is this a good lens? I know it's old lol about as old as the camera. I ordered on Ebay

[h=1]Nikon Nikkor AF D 75-240 mm F/4.5.-5.6 AF-D I've read that this lens isn't so good. I called Nikon and they said it's ok for older Nikons ie below 14 mega pixels. I want to know which is better of the 2. I don't know what happened to the Fonts lol. I copied and pasted. I didn't get the Nikon lens yet, and I like to shoot nature, landscapes and Tennis. [/h]
Later on I want to get a prime

Thanks alot

If there is somewhere I should have looked first in this forum please let me know

Google both lenses and you can read various reviews of the the lenses. Read all you can and then make an informed decision. Good luck.

I did read up on the nikon lens I ordered. And the results were so so. As for the Tamron lens that I got, it's 8 yrs old and hard to find info. I guess I just have to shoot with both and see which produces the best pics under various conditions. thanks though. If anyone else has any more info feel free to chime in

Mikew, thx for the invite and Singlerosa I guess your right :tennis: lol. it's like crying over spilt milk basically. Since I'm just starting in out they can't be that bad. I just thought someone here had used one of the two and would stand up for them ha ha.

If I were you I would just take a lot of pictures with both lenses in different lighting conditions and then put them through post processing to see the results. Then pick the one that gives you the results you desire. When you start printing them you will see what lens does the best for your desired result.

Hope this helps...Jimmers

Your Tammy might feels too narrow on a crop sensor, but at the same time you got your almost-all-in-one zoom taken care of. Like @singlerosa said, go play and see what you feel you're missing. Primes are fun. I'd recommend picking up a vintage one to have it help you learn all the basics (you will HAVE to shoot all manual, but your technique will improve very quickly this way), and not cost you more than $100 for any given basic one.

Thanks Jimmers, that's some sound advise. It's like an experiment the only way to find out is to get your hands dirty so to speak. Skyltd, I have a prime I'm looking at but not going to pick up at the moment. Best I fudge around with what I have for now. I also have my Fuji oh oh, lol. the lens I speak of is
