Anyone Get the Super Moon?

Sure did. 600mm f/4 with the TC-300 on a sturdy tripod and I didn't even have to meter. The brightness of a full moon is the same as the "Bright Sunny Day" rule; 1/ASA @ f/16. I set the D700 at ISO 100, 1/100 sec and f/8 (f/16 with the exposure factor of the TC) and clicked away. Perfect exposure!

Here is a shot of the moon shortly after sunset looking over the little Gilbert, AZ observatory (ran by local astronomy club). I wanted to get further away from the observatory with more zoom but trees, etc in the way.

This is 2 exposures stacked in Photomatix - one to expose moon and the other to expose foreground.

It is probably a good thing I photographed it last night, our weather is rainy today and I doubt I will be able to even see it tonight.

I have the same problem. There's a spot on Harbor Is. that would put the moon just above the SD skyline but the dang marine layer completely blotted it out last night and it's supposed to be worse tonight. I then considered driving up to Joshua Tree but they're forecast to have have a cloudy night, too. The only place I can get an unobstructed view of this moon is AZ....

Wow - so many good shots here I'm almost embarrassed to post mine but here goes. Moon only, 8 images stacked, 100 degree temps of wavy atmosphere to shoot through, 300 mm, f/11 1/80 sec (I think). This was shot not long after sunset.

Finally stepped out of my "P" comfort zone for low light shots and gave "M" a shot. I'm so glad I did I had so much fun with hubby last night. The moons the last 2 nights didn't last long as clouds moved in but last night it brought brought lightning which fantastic to finally capture
Only moon shots (with sleeping kids I only get night shots from the yard)
