Need Help With Portfolio Categories

I shoot a whole lot of wildlife, and then there's an utter hodge-podge in my portfolio. At this point my "business" is a hobby and my website gallery is set up to allow folks to look through everything and choose photos they'd like prints of. The plan is to focus it more, which may mean putting less up there, but for now I have a request.

Go to to my website and just scroll down through the photos on the main gallery landing page.

I want to subdivide those into 5 or 6 smaller galleries with two obvious inclusions being Wildlife and Landscape. From there you have a variety of street, studio, concert, architecture, travel, infrared, drone/aerial, abstract... There's a lot.

So given that I will use Wildlife and Landscape what other 3-5 would you recommend as gallery divisions that cover my stuff, and I'm happy with a "Miscellaneous" category as long as it's called something else.

The rest of the site is still under construction so if you must roam around now know that it's a work in progress.

TIA

The above are cut from a college's photography catalog. Should cover all the primary categories of photography.

I'm kind of in the same boat with landscape being my favorite subject yet wildlife seems to be what I shoot the most. As for topic suggestions, I will give it some thought. It's not so easy narrowing down a plethora of subjects into so only a few, but I know what you're asking.

It will be interesting to see what others come up with.

Yeah, thanks Fred. I did my digging in that area and if I divide my stuff into those categories it's like 90%, 25%, 2%, 2%, 1% (with crossover).

As my head hit the pillow last night the obvious solution hit me. I'm not looking for styles as much as I'm looking for a way for people to parse through what's there. I will tag stuff with something more style driven if they want to drill down more but for now I'm going...

Wildlife
People
Places
Things
Specialty (Drone & Infrared)
Black & White

There can obviously be crossover, but I think this makes it nice and simple.

Hi Jake , think you got it covered there apart from Things , for me , it just seems out of place , just an opinion , all the best

The only category I thought of for possibly drone, B&W, and infrared is Unique Perspective - things we don't usually see with our eyes. But it looks as though you've narrowed down your categories. I'm having the same thought as Skwaz for things. What about Other.

As a photographic category I get it, but from the point of view of a non-photographer I'm thinking that, "Person, Place or Thing?", is a fairly common 3-way categorization of everything on the planet and can be easily understood from that perspective.

Jake, I would sort into business vs pleasure, putting forward whichever you want first. So, anything easily marketable like people, places, and things and then wildlife/artistic landscapes into their own category(ies). Keep things relevant to the clientele you have in mind, and prioritize from there.

This is what I would choose:
Nature (and then have sub pages each for landscapes, birds, reptiles, mammals, etc)
People
Close Up/Still Life
Nighttime
Black and White

I've found people are drawn to the "things" category. So much to the point where "lighthouses", "waterfalls", "battlefields" really matter to casual scanners. There are many niche focused people; you need a landing place for groups should you have multiple images they might be seeking...,
