Fast Racing, High ISO, Lights, Fences = Frustration

Saturday night I went to the NASCAR Race in Richmond with high hopes of capturing hundreds of pix using my newest lens (70-200mm F/2.8 VRII) with my D7K. There were a lot of changes that stumped me, specifically the speed of the cars, lights, safety fences, and the need to crank the ISO all the way up. I came home with only a handful of keepers but it was a great learning experience. Anyone out there have any suggestions?...other than going to daytime races. Thanks.

Not sure of the exact conditions you are shooting in or the exif info on the keepers you posted above, it is difficult for me with limited knowledge to recommend much.
Here is a thread I started about similar conditions. http://nikonites.com/prime/3937-way-go.html

I had to wait for traffic to come into a well lit area and crank up the ISO to get decent shots.
