Trying out a completely new workflow using tools I haven't used before. I would appreciate some criticism, advice and opinions please. The image has not been cropped.

I think the photo can use a crop in from the top right corner.

That said it's hard to comment on the workflow from only and after shot. I'm seeing some weirdness around the bottom left side of the owl that looks like you tried to isolate the subject and add blur to the background (which I often do) and it looks like the isolation is a little dodgy around there and some of the other places where you have fine feather edges.

Would be interested to hear what you're trying as it may be something I've done/am doing that I can give you some tips on.

Your profile indicates that it's okay to edit your images, so I gave it a shot:

The eyes should be the brightest and most vibrant part of the image, piercing right through the viewer's soul. A slight crop lines up the eye with one of the points in the Rule of Thirds, further drawing your attention to them.

Here I kept the green muted by lowering the saturation. The end result is further isolating the subject from the background. Other colors were pumped up, especially orange and yellow. To bring out detail in the feathers, shadows were darkened - also increased clarity and texture a bit.

The file compression on the forums sucks, so this looks a little overcooked unfortunately.
