i shot this on a very shadowy day with low sun and trees, so lots of shadows.
the colour is very close to how it was shot and looked in real life, for this i actually like the colour.
I edited it today to make a Black n white and more detail popped up obviously, i like the extra details in BnW but its not really how the shadows fell.

which do people prefer ,the over boosted shadows of the BnW or the original

As is I prefer the B&W only for the sheep's facial detail. Similar could be accomplished by placing an oval mask on the face in the first and lightening it a bit.

The color version is my personal preference, though I agree with Needa about lifting the shadows on the ewe's face. I took the liberty of using the Adjustment Brush in ACR to do that and tweak a few other things before cropping it slightly.

This would be the simplest way to do it and get amazing results - as Horoscope Fish did. :encouragement:

Your last edit looks much better, but it is still pretty dark. I'd boost the exposure a bit, I think.

I agree with Woody. The background got darker and more contrasty. If you look at Fish's edit, the background looks lighter and more blurred. That helps make the sheep stand out a little better. But nicely done with your edit. You're getting the hang of it! :encouragement:

thanks everyone , i went back and didn't touch the exposure as everything is moreless central on the histogram.

i did lower the contrast to the other side of middle and the whole back ground became lighter blurred out a bit more.i see ewe colour contrast.jpg
