ferns with character

appreciate any comments on how a better picture could have been taken, what worked, what didn't work. Thanks!
Nikon D7500, ISO500, 300mm, -.33ev, f/10 1/200 if I recall properly with tripod.

This is definitely not my area of photography...
I'll assume the front fern is the subject. My eye is drawn to the tip of the spiral which is too low in the composition. The second fern bud distracts from the main subject by intersecting with it. Even the stem of the third element hits the main subject. I like the subject matter but I think it needs some work on composition.

thanks Chris for taking the time to comment. Appreciate your thoughtful feedback, I need to practice and think more on how to have a layered perspective. The main fern/spiral while having the other two add to the theme.

Try different perspectives to get what you want, from a low angle, above, right and left. Other times you can just move the plants. By leaning something against the base of the second fern you may have created some separation between the 1st and 2nd.
