Either the second or third shot. I think I would have left a little more of the leaves. Good job on removing the dead branches.

I like the third shot the best @mikew. Getting rid of that odd branch and leaving the foliage looks really nice to me. Good Job. I still struggle with getting rid of stuff like that.

I would have to say either #3 or #5. The extra branches and foliage add a certain amount of context but #1 and #2 have too much and I think it's creating a distraction. By shot #3 you've got enough foliage to make it clear you intended it to be there without it being quite so distracting. I might crop some off the top and bottom, however. In shot #4 the foliage is a distracting element. By shot #5 it's gone entirely, which I'm fine with. I think it's the cleanest shot overall. The branch "grounds" the bird and there's nothing at the edges pulling my eye out of the shot, or away from the subject.

Thanks i think 3 or 5 was for me but in the end i think the big upright branch is a distraction to me.

Looking at them again, I'm leaning towards #5 more and more. There's the "proper" amount of headroom and having less of that big branch is working for me.
