Hey everyone, this is my first post on Nikonites and I just wanted to get some general feedback on a few photos I took this weekend. I recently purchased a D3300 with an 18-55mm VRII lens and am loving it! The photos were shot in RAW and mildly tweaked in photoshop. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

hello and welcome, the first pic, it looks like a nice sunset over a seaside village and a stump blocking the view, imo too much on the stump and not enough on the beautiful part of the picture, and as mike said try and remember to straighten your pics, looks like the water is trying to run out.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I definitely see now that it's a little crooked. I have to keep that in mind when shooting.

Here is another I took of my niece, pumpkin picking. I posted both the before and after photos.

Welcome to the forums! Good shots to start with, to be sure, and quite the capable camera. What mode do you shoot in, and are you shooting RAW or JPG in camera?

Thank you! The first few pictures I posted were RAW and then I modified them in PS CS6. The picture of my niece was shot in JPG.

I like the selective color photo of your niece. I think a little cropping to eliminate some of the background would let her stand out even more. (Just a first glance thought).

Couple suggestions for your last couple of shots...

Get your subject off-center to create a dynamic and two, try to remember when photographing people, "head in a clean space".

That last little bit means you want to maintain a certain zone around the subjects head that doesn't have any large, protruding or generally distracting elements in it.
