Fractured past.

Here is the photo I decided to enter in the local camera club competition. The theme is broken

You lost a point for not getting the whole of the house in... lol... I would tuck down a tad lower - and yes I am being pedantic, otherwise fantastic, fantastic shot...

I had very little room to get in there. This was shot at 16mm and the floor has holes all in it and unfortunately I can't get back into the building anymore.
If I remember correctly there were shelves in front of this window and boards covering one side. this was pretty much the only shot I could get.

The building just sold and they are going to make condos out of it and shops on the first floor.

Great photo Don Kuykendall! The composition works.

It tells about the story about the building. Perhaps broken figuratively like a broken legacy or broken dreams (of the owner) or physically. What building is this?

There is a positive way of interpreting the photo. The window is a portal. I am broken in the inside but am slowly chipping away this portal to get to the other side where there is hope of a better future and purpose (the house).

The photos speaks to me. :D This is what art is supposed to be.

Very kind words. Thank you.
The building was built in 1838 and was continuously operating as a factory that built Cotton Gins until about just a few years ago. One of the longest continuously operating factories in the US. It was sold finally last month and the plan is to tear down all the newer tin parts of the building and to restore the original brick building into condos and shops. Here is a areal shot I did last month.
