Critique this please

Let me know what you guys think. This was shot this weekend while camping. This is my first time ever posting a picture for critique. Thanks

The basic comp is okay, but is the harsh yellow tint intentional? It kills the car as the center of attention.

Exif data would be helpful,,First thing I notice is the white-balance looks off..To warm IMO..Composition is great..I think it would look better at a shallower DOF...With focus being on the truck of course..

I brought the hightlights down and fixed the WB...

I like the car being framed by the trees and the angle of the shot. However if the car is the subject - the perhaps it being closer might make for a better picture. . . especially if one can see the reflected surroundings on the car.

Your license plate number easily leads to your true full name, date of birth, address and any other vehicles registered to you.

Just a compositional tip...

Frame your shots with the subject looking in-frame; this creates an invisible leading line which will keep the viewers eye on your photo longer and increase interest. By having your subject "looking" off frame, that same leading line takes the eye to the right where it falls off the edge of the frame.

Do you cover your plate while you drive your car so folks can't find you? If it makes you comfortable cover the plate, me I'm not worried. Thanks for the explanation.

It reminded me of an old Toyota ad. The FJ being retro, it just worked. I'll post a few others that were taken that night. Thanks for all the feedback, I needed a pros point of view.:smile-new:

I am also distracted by the yellow tint... and I have a hard time sorting out what the central focus of the picture is supposed to be. The vehicle? Would like to see it larger. The carrier on top? Same. The ability to travel deep into the forest? Perhaps a bit more rugged feel, or a wider view of ongoing wilderness... maybe a bit of the campsite already set up behind the vehicle, or something. One thing for sure, I sure wouldn't mind being out in a remote location with a chance to shoot wildlife and landscapes right now. This cube world is eating me alive!

It may just be the yellow tint, though. As far as the sharpness of the pic, and the exposure, both seem spot on.

Don't take my opinion worth much more than a grain of salt though, as everyone has a different "eye". In fact, I usually don't comment on pics, but the title definitely speaks your wish for opinions on this one.

With this in mind, maybe try with some of the vintage or sepia presets out there instead? Curious to see how those would turn out.

Ahh, made me look it up, and I have to say I'm somewhat enamored with the idea. Thanks for the info! I've only dealt with the pull behind pop-up, but that is a new concept I'll have to look in to for future trips.

You can certainly state your opinion, mine was given in good faith to protect the OP as much as possible.
As far as asking me if I cover my license plate, what does what I do personally have to do with it?
I have tried to be neutral, but you seem bent on dragging the conversation to a personal level. This will be my last open post on this issue.
