Very nice, good job! Subject is centered, but you get away with it by having some framing on the left (trees) and right (clouds).

Say, how did you put a watermark on your shot? That all rights reserved part. I'd love to do something similar as well but with my last name. Can we do this with LR3?

Thanks

Look in your export functions. In Aperture 3 I'm able to edit the export function to either include my watermark or not include it, and scale the size as well as control the opacity of the watermark.

Very nice shot, got that early morning erry thing happening, must have been very quiet. I like the shot but have you thought of cropping down the sky a little? Thr image is almost square and has a lot of sky. Thanks for sharing.

Uh.. it's not actually square, it's probably just too wide for the page, it scrolls side to side. I should have made it smaller.

Really nice job, John. I would leave it as is . . . compositionally very effective. Everything in the pic draws your eye to the kayaker, and the fact that you have so much sky, gives the feeling of a very large expanse and solitude. I also love that you can see the silhouette of the paddle.

Best Regards

Sorry, I was on my netbook, not the best for viewing photos. I am now on my regular laptop and the proportions look good. Thanks for sharing.

Ain't Canada great!

I have to agree, gentlmen! Twenty years ago I drove up the Alaska(trans Canada?) highway up to Lake Kluane and the Yukon Territory. Absolutely gorgeous country . . . fell in love with Canada on that trip. If I weren't so entrenched in the USA, I'd move there!

You are welcome. I looked at your gallery pics and you truly do live in a beautiful part of the world. (Your shot of the lake is gorgeous! --should be framed and hanging in a place of prominence) I hope to some day go to your part of the wold (before I get too old to enjoy the hiking and trekking!) Enjoy your home and post more pics (so we can be envious!!)

Best Regards

awesome words in your post thank you but I don't want to make anyone jealous, come one and all and enjoy, There's literally thousands of square miles, for everyone to experience, one day before 'I' get too old, I would love to take a helicopter ride and view and photograph my section of the Rockies, breath taking-ly beautiful...

You guys are talking about the west, I live in flat ole Manitoba, have you ever been there? We have NOTHING on the west, no mountains, no ocean. But we do have lakes, wind, sky and cold, and occasionally you find something scenic to photograph. I would have no problem relocating a little further west if the opportunity arose.

LOL
Part of New Mexico is like that also (except very few lakes!) There's beauty in all of nature, you sometimes have to look a little longer and harder, especially if it's in your own backyard!

You're absolutely correct.
Growing up I could never understand how people loved home cooking. That's all we ever ate! Fast food burgers and store bought cookies were a rare treat. I'm a little older and much wiser now...I understand.
Oh how our perspective changes.
