I agree with Don, you did it good, just went a tad to far in my book... face is washed out and hair looks bleached... Back it up a smidge and I think you will have nailed it.

All your photo required in my opinion was a light touch to the color sats and I took the liberty of enhancing the sky. I think it's easy to go overboard in Photoshop, the key is knowing when to stop. Just one man's opinion, of course.

So anyway, here's my take...

Knawx, your second picture looks great and has a very nice golden glow, assuming I'm looking at the second pic you uploaded, it still looks overdone though and needs enhancements backing off a tad in my opinion.
Good edit on the hand.

Horroscope fish, are they Smurf mountains in the background :)
The girls face has a bit of a red tint too.

It's true, usually when I finish an edit, I back everything off by 15% - I've been editing this photo on a new monitor and I'm starting to realize that it makes it easier to overdue. I'm looking at the image on my laptop now and it definitely looks more saturated than I was expecting.

Another point if I may.

Photography is as much about shade as it is about light.
Yes we use often use reflectors or fill in flash but this scene has light reflecting from the ground.
Too much editing to remove shadows on the girl ends up flattening the image.

Tough audience!

Okay, I actually put some effort into this one. Her face has a red tint because she's a little sunburned and I hate dealing with skin tones, GAH!

No more Smurf Mountain, though, and I ran a high pass filter to sharpen it up.

Tough audience!

No bud, half my comment was in jest and half to ensure someone looking for guidance takes the best path.
My comment was just an opinion, people have to look at all opinions and then do their own thing.
There's no right or wrong but there will be a general consensus to give the best guidance.

I'm a bit of a joker hence the Smurf mountain comment.
No offence intended, hopefully none taken.

I agree with everyone here, just a tad too saturated. Beautiful photo, beautiful child, perfectly captured moment. It's sure to be one of those treasured photographs.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback. I'm happy nobody noticed how I manipulated her left hand from the original. Hopefully that means it looks natural and doesn't jump out and scream "shopped!"
