Shot of my daughter

I set up a makeshift “studio” in my living room on Sunday and did a shoot with my daughter. I selected this image at random out of the set for critique. It can be a tad difficult to get a two-year-old to pose for photos, but I really enjoy the facial expression I captured in this one.

The main area in which I’m looking for critique is lighting. I’m new to off camera flash photography and I want to learn and grow. This was lit by an off camera flash shot through a cheap 33” white umbrella from the left. I do plan on buying more/better light modifiers soon, but I wanted to get some shooting under my belt with what I have.
While lighting is the main thing I want critique on, I'm certainly open to any and all feedback.
Thank you in advance!

Hmmmm, looks like the EXIF data isn’t there for whatever reason.
Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 (shot taken at 50mm f/8)
Shutter Speed 1/125
ISO 200
Shot in manual

I know you are looking for lighting advice but that is not my area so I won't comment on it.
I would have done the composition differently. I probably would have turned the camera for a portrait like this. If I were going to shoot it landsape, I would have put the negative space on the other side as she is looking more in that direction. I would also be careful of the backround. I'm not sure why, but the first thing my eye was drawn to is the knot in the panelling. Easily removed in post.

I'm really focusing on improving my compositions which might explain this critique.
Hope I helped.

The background is actually a vinyl backdrop. I'm glad I was able to get the lighting so that you thought it was real paneling though!
