Sorry not been around for a while dealing with on going health problem...
anyway enough of that as i cant get out just now doing all indoors
so here is photo of ring a have done
using tent set up and lights in house please

Looking at it on my work computer I would try and clean up the glass a bit as I can see dust and hair.
Other than that I am no expert at this type of photography so will wait for others to input.

You say its a blend of two photos.
Was the blend horizontally across the middle of the ring because it looks like the front sections of the ring are a bigger diameter than the rear. Did the camera move between shots when refocussing or is that the design of the ring?

The focus on the diamond section seems soft while the backside of the band is sharp. I would rather see all of it sharp or at the least the other way around.

Ok will take a few more shots of both and try again c I can sharpen focus or maybe try the macro 4 way slide

Quick question is black or white background best or just a personal thing

I'm no jewelry photographer but I just did a google image search for 'rings' and 98% of them are on white backgrounds. Maybe black is just too much contrast? I agree with previous comments about the focus. Surely its possible to get the entire ring crisp and I'm rather surprised that didn't happen with f/16. Maybe you need to increase your distance a little bit until it works and then just crop the photo if you have enough resolution for whatever purpose you have in mind for this pic.
