Mine is a Maxpedition Colossus. It works pretty well for what I need it for.
My D7K resting comfortably.

I own a couple Kata bags, a 123-30 that carries all my stuff and a 123-11 for the weekend, when i usually take the camera and an extra lens/flash and the iPad.

What I like most about Domke is how they mold to your body. It's the most comfortable bag I own.

That said, you would not want your gear stuffed in an overhead compartment in a Domke bag (I've got a Tenba Shootout Sling for that). They're not built for maximum protection. But for jaunts around town there's none better IMO.

That's the issue I have with my maxpedition. It sticks out like a foot from my body. It at least it doesn't resemble a camera bag. I have a great tactical messenger bag I would love to use. I found this thing called the bbp camera insert. I guess it slips into any messenger bag and it has all the spots for camera + lenses.

I've got a lot of Maxpedition and have used my Jumbo Versipack as a camera bag. It works OK but I know what you mean about it feeling bulky.

My 2nd-most used bag (after the Domke) is my Tenba Shootout Sling. I don't have a photo of it at the moment but you can see it here:

Tenba - Shootout: Medium Sling Bag

The Tenba is my main go-to bag for trips and jaunts where I need more protection. It's tough as nails. It holds all my gear as well as personal items (books, shaving gear, etc) and fits nicely under the seat of a plane. It's very similar to the Lowepro 200/202 AW but has more features and is better designed IMHO.

I had a Tarmac That was similar to that but it didn't fit my camera with the grip on it top or side loaded. I had good luck with the 200aw before I sold it. I like this tenba.
