I just bought a Canon Selphy CP1300 4x6 photo printer -- what fun!

I didn't even know these things existed! I've grown to hate inkjet printers over the years, but this little dye sublimation printer is a joy to use. At about .31 cents for a 4x6 print, it's competitive to the pharmacy/photo lab, but much more fun. You can even run it on a battery for totally portable operation.

I brought mine on a recent fishing vacation and made lots of 4x6 prints to hand out to the guys. It can act as a WiFi router so anyone at your gathering can send images wirelessly from their phones/iPads/notebooks for printing. The prints come out dry, ready to handle and very water resistant.

One of the most interesting aspects of it is that each "ink" cartridge will print a specific number of prints, and the paper comes packaged with the cartridge or cartridges in a pack so that there is never a question of when you're going to run out of ink... the included cartridge or cartridges will print exactly the number of 4x6 prints in the paper pack. The affordability of both the printer itself and the paper/ink supplies is surprising.

When I searched for some YouTube videos on the Selphy, I found that some people have been using them almost daily for more than a few years with no issues. My only niggle so far is that the skin tones are jut a bit off. There are some adjustments but I haven't messed with them yet. But I am very happy with it as is, especially considering its cost and what it is; I don't expect lab-quality portraits from a portable $120 USD printer.
