Beike Carbon Fiber Tripod BK586

I'm on an extremely low budget so I plan to likely buy this tripod. Has anybody heard of any disasters caused by this tripod? I will hopefully replace the ball head eventually, so I'm mainly concerned about the tripod itself.

Thank you for your help.

I have a D700 with battery grip it will be holding up.

My lesson learned buying cheap tripods is that I was destined to buy 4 progressively more expensive tripods.

You will have to be the final judge on the value of that. I also have standardized on Arca-Swiss compatible gear because it is a fact that it is the standard now. It is less of an issue with a single camera. I use multiple cameras and also 3 of my telephoto zoom lenses have tripod feet. Moving that single quick-release plate between the gear is just irksome to me. And I did it for years like that before coming to my senses.

But with all that out there, I don't see any glaring problem with that tripod. A 20lb max load capacity is lightweight and may be unstable in wind. I would be reluctant to use the center column extended too high for that.

Reviews make this tripod look OK. However it is made in China and I fear most Chinese products. I see other products in your price range and you might want to check them out. One other option is a Korean-made HorusBennu tripod. I recommend some computer checking and reviews.

I use to have a gitzo tripod with an ARCA Swiss Z1single pan ball head. But I sold off all of my photography kit years ago. But thanks to a really close friend I have my D700. But I have no budget for any of the great kit that I use to own.

So I'm trying to get by on a shoe string budget. I might be able to buy an old Arca Swiss B1 ball head, which is my hopes down the line. But I have to save on the tripod either way.
I totally agree about the center pole.

Thanks for the good advice.

@Bill16 - do you have a link for the tripod? I'm not finding much of anything when searching for info.

Welcome back!

Thank you my friend, I'm glad to have the chance to enjoy photography again.

I found it on eBay.

I don't know anything about that one, but with only 2 reviews, I'd be hesitant. In the past I purchased a ZOMEi Tripod via Amazon that was carbon fiber. It was decent although the head was pretty stiff. Since I have chronic tendonitis in my arm, I wound up sending it back. They do make an aluminum one that is a little more expensive than the price of the Beike, but if the quality is similar to the carbon fiber one, it might not be too bad. It also has really good reviews. The reason I purchased the carbon fiber one is because it had good reviews on one of the major photography websites where they ran it through its paces.

But this one doesn't look too bad.

Thanks Cindy, much appreciated my friend. If I can manage the extra cost I will really consider that tripod. I have prime there on Amazon. What I will really save for is a arca Swiss ball head. Maybe I can eventually find a used arca swiss B1.

But that's in the future.

That one is likely too far over my budget. But maybe I can sell something to cover the cost. Well I'll have to wait and see. Thank you.

The Zomei comes with a ball head, but if you aren't able to find a B1, this one is decent. But it was $69.95 when I purchased mine. Just something to consider down the road.

Ok cool. I put it on my Amazon wish list. Thank you Cindy. If it's working for you then I will try to buy one if I can't find a B1 at a low enough price. I will likely have to make due with the ball head that comes on the tripod for awhile first.

I still have a double Spider pro holster and belt setup that's still like new that I might try to trade for the arca swiss ball head. I've seen a few B1's on ebay.

Thank you everyone. It looks like the tripod and ball head issue has been solved. I'm trading for my old setup which is perfect for me. A Gitzo tripod (I forgot the model #) and an Arca Swiss Z1 double pan ball head.

No doubt that will be much better than the one you were considering! :)
