XQD card prices

I am guessing that XQD cards cost a lot of money in other parts of the world and not just the UK. Can we expect to see these prices come down in time as I notice that CFexpress cards now seem to be the so called best/fastest/most robust card out there. For what you could spend on a CFexpress card, you could purchase a fairly decent lens. Certainly SD cards seem have come down in price over the years so surely XQD will follow?

There has been speculation about this for a while now. I really wish I knew, too. I have been lucky to find some used XQD cards at places like KEH and MPB in the States. Maybe there is a source for used cards in the UK, too.

CFExpress cards are mostly very high capacity and crazy expensive. I have no interest in them at this point.

It is a bit frustrating. The Cfexpress card were supposed to be cheaper because of competition. It didn’t work, and because of that I can see no reason to switch to them. But I have seen a small drop in the XQD cards. You could buy a 64 card for what I paid for the 32s.

I do like the cards but I do dislike the price and availability issue.

They have come down a fair amount in the time I have had both my D850 and D500. I remember when I first got my D850, a 128GB XQD card was over $200 at Best Buy.

I'm hoping the CFexpress cards will come down in price because of being manufactured by various manufacturers and "competition". The reason is I just ordered one and a reader for the D500 I just ordered. The card was about the same price as the equivalent XQD (I thought). Ha!
Dawg Pics Are they not guaranteed for life like some SD cards? I didn't research, but thought maybe?!?!

Dawg Pics Check on the manufacturer web site. The SanDisk CFexpress card I bought has a limited lifetime guarantee. By the way, the 128GB CFexpress was $180.

I am taking a week off to travel around Florida and take photos, and figured that I needed another XQD or CFExpress card since I only can find two of mine.

Well forget that! What my local store had was $229 for a 128GB card! So I just bought an external hard drive for $85, and it will hold almost eight times as many photos as that card. If I run out of space on a XQD card the SD card will be acting as overflow. It won't be as fast, but it will work!

CFExpress was supposed to go down in price, and it has, but it seems to have started at such a stratospheric price that it's not worth its price over an XQD card. The issue with XQD cards is that they aren't readily available any more. To top it all off, there are numerous videos online that purport to show that some cameras write to XQD cards faster than they write to CFExpress cards.

My XQD reader bit the dust. Any recommendations?

I was going to say just get the Sony, remembering the price as being something like $40. Well, I looked and it's up to $99. Yikes! I did notice the BH Photo has a Delkin reader for $35. I have had good luck with Delkin memory cards, but don't have any experience with this reader. Just thought I'd mention it.
