Wasabi batteries

Because of the positive reviews on Wasabi aftermarket batteries, I bought a couple to supplement the nikons I had for my D750 and D7100. I put one in the MD16 grip on the 750 and it read totally discharged. I tried the 2nd one with the same results. I tried charging both and they were charged. Puzzled, I put one in the body slot of the 750 and it showed fully charged and ready to go. Next I put the Nikon battery in the grip and it worked fine. The Wasabis don’t seem to like the grip. Anyone else notice this or have any suggestions?

I have a couple of Wasabi batteries and they're fine in my grips. I will preface the previous with, I don't use Nikon's grips... In the past whereby a manufacturer has "played games" with blocking 3rd party accessories, specifically the chips in batteries, it has been Nikon...

Unfortunately, my experience with third party batteries has been quite checkered. Some, from the same manufacturer, work great and others suck. On the other hand, I have never had an issue with a legitimate (versus counterfeit) Nikon battery, so I feel forced to stay with the overpriced Nikon batteries.

My Wasabi batteries work just fine in all my camera bodies and their grips. Nikon has gotten better at detecting non-OEM batteries so that *might* be the reason.

I don't have firsthand experience, but what I remember reading here when mixing batteries is the aftermarket batteries work well in the camera bodies, and the Nikon batteries work fine in the grips. If they get switched, that's when things don't work properly.

I use wasabi batteries in my 7200 with great results. Sticking with Nikon in the Z6. I am just being careful.

Thanks for all of the responses. It seems that it is a mixed bag of sorts. I will use Nikons in the Nikon grip and Wasabi in the bodies. It is workable, but I have to think. Ha!

I've had great success with Wasabi batteries in my X100T.
I only have three OEM Nikon batteries for my D7100. I did have a third party grip and it caused AF issues, since I upgraded to the grossly overpriced OEM grip, all is well.

Every third party battery I have ever tried fails to hold a change as long as a Nikon battery. I don't like paying what is surely an inflated price for Nikon batteries, but I'm going to do it anyway from now on.
