    Which remote cord?

    Which remote cord?
I am looking to get either the Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord or the Vello ShutterBoss II Timer Remote Switch for Nikon with DC2 Connection for my bodies (all of which take this type of connection). Does anyone have experience with either--such as what's good or not good about them? I know the Vello has a timer that the Nikon lacks.

I had the Nikon cable for the D5300/D7100/D610. Having gotten the new Nikon cable for the D810/D500/D850, the Vello looks like it has more of the timer and time lapse features that the DX cable doesn’t.

Thank you, Brent, Andy, Jake, and Charlie. The Vello got on my radar because Scott Kelby used the Canon version in one of his videos. That's probably the one I will go with because of its added features. I just wanted to be sure there weren't any issues with the Vello.

I've had other Vello products and have never been disappointed.

    Thanks again.

    Which remote cord?
Yesterday I stopped into Allen's Camera asking if they carry the ShutterBoss cord. Surprisingly I was told Vello is exclusive to B&H the same way Impact branded items are. I thought Vello was its own brand.

Coincidentally they had this exact cord that they took in on a trade. They also said the Phottix TR-90 is the same cord with the exception of the brand name on it. Then they pulled both out of the boxes for a side-by-side comparison. And yep...they looked exactly alike (some very slight differences in the painted-on white markings which are probably added by each brand).

So I purchased the pre-owned Vello that also came with the box and directions. Saved $20 over the cost of a new one, too. Now I've got to try it out.

Here is the Phottix TR-90 for a comparison.

Interesting. I’m a fan of Phottix lights, but didn’t realize they were OEM’ing products.
