This item has been discussed since June 2017, but still no independent reviews or signs of the actual hardware or software. I would be very careful with this. It is a lot of money to bet on the come.
AI as used in recent reports is very far removed from neural nets. But no one is explaining what the new internal techniques are in modern AI. The poker and chess playing AI machines are clearly doing lots more than just neural network stuff.
Neural nets work well for what they are designed to do: estimate the output of a system/process due to changes to multiple input variables for systems that are too complex to model mathematically. They require a lot of historical data to "train" with in order to be useful. On paper, sounds like some good old neural networking might work for making photography suggestions for particular scenes.
Some say Nikon matrix metering is a poor man's neural network based on zillions of photos used for training. Mainly it knows how to spot back light, sun in the frame, extremes of high and low lights, etc to make the exposure. Works pretty good.
I'll also wait for the real world reviews of this new product. It may be a way to graft Nikon matrix metering tech into cell phones. Then again, most of these pay in advance products fizzle out due to not working or not being useful enough.
