K2 or possibly K3 focusing screen

Any idea where to get either a K2 (first choice) or a B2 (second choice) focusing screen for an FM2n? I know some screens will require an exposure adjustment to compensate for being brighter which is why I'm only looking for one of these.

You can find them on eBay for $30 or $40 or so.

You could try the big boys, B&H and/or Adorama but the B2/K2 screens are going to be more difficult to find.

Good luck on your search!

I already looked at their web sites plus called a few stores within an hour radius from me. Definitely a much more difficult item to find. Thanks for the info, Fish. ;)

Investigate the 3 series screens which came out in the FM3. They fit a FM2n.
I have an E2 screen you can have if you want to give it a try. Installation isn't difficult....

Thanks for the offer, but I'm hoping to find a K2. Will keep it in mind though--thanks! The reason I am not looking at the 3 series is I was told their brightness is different and needs the exposure adjusted for compensation.

Access Denied

here you go

edited to add: I don't know why it displays "Access denied"... click it and it should go to what you want on eBay

Thank you--I'll keep it in mind. Today I tracked one down in New Jersey only to find out it is scratched. Their price was $25, and the camera store where I bought the body said prices should be between $20 to $30.

Might also consider a K3 if no additional exposure compensation is required. I'm trying to understand the info on this page but am not sure if a K3 will work without having to adjust the exposure. Does anyone know?

By the way, I decided to stick only with the K2 (or possibly K3) screen so will see if a mod can change the title of this thread.

I found a brand new K3 through B&H--they confirmed it won't need any exposure compensation. So although it is a tad pricey, it is new. According to some of the reviews, it is a little better than the K2.

So thanks for all your help. Once I receive it and have the camera store install it, I'll let you know how it is. Thanks again! :)

Some say yes and some say no to exposure compensation with 3 series screens. I never used any and results were fine. Even so it is just an adjustment to the ISO

I decided to call Nikon and ask a few questions about the differences between the screens. So last evening I called Nikon's 1-800 number but had to leave a message since they were closed. They've been opened for 3 hours now so I tried again. After going through all the prompts, it tells me to leave a detailed message; however, BEFORE it beeps, it says to call the 1-800 number for faster service (it's the same number I was already calling). I couldn't find any way to contact a live person via phone.

So I decided to use their online support for email. Of course I got to the log in page so I logged in. When I went to the link to contact them via email, I was directed back to logging in again. So I did. And it kept repeating itself to the log in page again and again...and again. I even tried going for the live chat option, but it was the same problem of being taken back to the log in page. :hurt:

On what camera do you plan to swap?

Actually I bought one on Amazon, just yesterday. Only by looking the pictures, and rough comparison to my D700 actual focusing screen. I hope it will fit into my D700.
