Got my Sony reader for free with the Sony card. Until you figure it out, connect the camera directly or just use the SD card slot with the fastest card you've got.

I haven't found a need for an XQD card yet. I have a couple of lexar 633X cards that fill my needs perfectly. I rarely burst off more the 10 shots in a row.

Re: Need a XQD card reader

I've got both a Sony and a Lexar XQD card reader. Can't say I've noticed any difference between then ... I only went with Lexar because that's what my SD/CF reader is, and then one of my Sony cards came with the Sony reader. Since I back up across both XQD and SD, I just use the SD card for transfering images to the computer.

You have made me think with this,I could get a faster than the 95mbs sd card i have and use the XQD as a back up, if i ever needed the back up files i could use my cable.i was going to buy a faster SD card anyway.
I know its not our normal style but you may have saved me money

I've been kind of wondering about this. If you use an XQD card and an SD card as a backup, wouldn't the SD card slow down the buffer making the XQD card a moot point?

That is certainly my way of thinking so i think a fast SD card and my XQD slot as backup could work for me,just need to get out and see how good 95mbs is for me and possibly buy a faster one,i dont see me needing more than 6 or7 fps for BIF any way.

I've wondered the same thing, but haven't tried to test the idea yet.
