Hello.

I am looking at getting a gimbal head.

And have the following options: Benro GH2, Jobu Heavy Duty MK IV, Jobu Pro2, Jobu Jr 3 deluxe, GimPro MK1, GimPro MK2.
The Wimberley WH-200 II is a bit on the expensive side, But I will have to save some more to afford it.

I would appreciate some feedback on the options and or opinions.

I intend to use this with the Sigma 150-600 C and D500.

Thanks in advance.

I believe it is the Jobu MKIV that I have and use it with the D7200 and Sigma 50-600C and it works great.. Mine might be the MKIII.. but it is strong enough.. I got mine second hand. Worth having though..

its a tough call, I went though this a few months back, in the end I held off and saved a little more and got the Wimberley WH-200 II, happy with it and using it a lot, even walking with it on my benro and 50-500, I have carried it for a 3 hr walk around lake skinner a few times. Good luck on choosing.

I purchased a Nest Gimbal over a year ago and found it quite well built and priced right ($298.00). Nest is not a household name but worth a look. The U.S. importer is Camera Cottage in Billings Montana. camera cottage.com The gentleman that owns it is quite knowledgeable and will answer all of your questions about photography and photography equipment.

I have found another potential (I may get to check it out in-store) in a SK-GH01 from Chinese company called SevenOaks.
Unfortunetly I am unable to find anything about them outside of Amazon reviews :suspicion:, And I take those with a teaspoon of salt.

It is cheeper the the Jobu Jr, But it may not be worse quiality.
Descisions, descisions.

Aaand, I have stricken SevenOak off the list of potentials.
It uses bushes instead of bearings, I am just going to go for the Jobu HD4 instead and know what I am getting.

There are some items you only want to buy once and never look back. The first gimbal I bought was the Benro GH-1. It was a bit stiff moving vertically, so I sent it back to Adorama. After waiting for 2 months due to back order, I bought the Wimberley. You'll never regret buying the best.

Singlerosa I totally agree you. I have several tripods, gimbals, and ball heads that I purchased sitting in my what was I thinking closet. You need to be careful because there are a lot of no name looka likes out there are very tempting price wise. While Amazon sells many great products at a very good price they seem to also be the home of knock offs so be careful. It is always wise to wait a little longer and save a little more money to purchase some life time items that you can trust. Take your time and do extensive research before spending your hard earned hobby funds.

I was fortunate a few weeks ago. I was visiting a local shop, and they had an Induro Model GBH2 on display. It had come from a shop buy, and was virtually new in the box. Not a scratch or mark, and it looked like it had never been mounted. Out the door for $250 (retails at B&H for $449). It works like a charm. In fact, it's replaced my Manfrotto 393. It's a bit heavier, but it's a substantial, well-built gimbal.

You may not find one for the price I paid, but it's worth it to consider the Induro.

A quick local google search shows a online retailer (that I am unfimilar with) has it, But it is more expensive then the Wimberly.

I have the Jobu Micro
A gimbal on a diet.
or tighter budget

Works great on my monopod which is what I tend to have with me wondering wth my 200-500mm

a good option to consider - not everyone's cup of tea

as for build quality I've been pleased with Jobu

Jobu Micro Gimbal/Ballhead Adapter
That would be an option, But I don't have a ball head.

Right now I am wanting the Jobu HD4, But may go for the Junior3 (Deluxe) instead to save a few Rands for other items.
Local price of the HD4 is R8,600 (~610USD) and the Junior is R5,000(~350USD) with the deluxe being R500(~390USD) more.

Maybe I should decide to wait a bit and go for the Wimberly at R10,500(~740USD), But I am leaning towards the Jobu HD4.

The Wimberley is $595.00 at B&H and several other United States retailers.
I would expect that I would also need to pay extra for shipping to my country and then I would have to deal with the local post office(which is not the most reliable and takes there time to send parcels around).

I would rather pay a slight premium and buy local where I will get it via currier in a few days (excluding weekends) and have somewhere easy to send it to for the warrenty.

Oh, And there would be additional fees if it gets stopped by customs.
But sometimes it may be cheeper to buy from overseas then local.

Overal, It could take from 4-6 weeks for it to come through based on parcels that come from China.

But this is a good suggestion, I just prefer having a place to go to incase of problems that can get it sorted out quickly.

I can only speak from personal experience, I have owned a great gimbal from here (two in fact) LensMaster Gimbal Head

They are hand made and excellent, BUt do not offer full adjustment, so you are unable to align the centre axis of the lens (I have the 150-600 Sport on both D4s and D810)

I now use both the Wimberley Mk2 and Benro CF https://www.amazon.co.uk/Benro-GH2C-Gimbal-Head-Lens/dp/B00BXJYGW0

Is the Wimberley better or the Benro, horses for courses, I personally do not think the Wimberley is worth the full cost, you are paying for the name as well.
