Epson P400

I apologize if this is in the wrong thread. I am looking at an Epson P400 printer. I have a WorkForce 633 now that does a decent job. I am also looking at an Artisan 1430. Would like some feed back from you all. Anyone used either of these 2 printers? Thanks

First of all, what do you need the printer to do? While I do not have experience with either of these, our graphics shop does, and I might get one of them to give me some specific information.

Hello Whiskeyman. Thanks for your reply. I am looking for both a quality and reliability comparison. I have heard the 1430 can be troublesome... They both do 13" wide prints, so that is an even score. The 1430 is around $400 cheaper. Just wondering if it is less than half the P400 in performance.. Thanks again...

If you can hold off until closer to the holiday, quite often B&H puts some of the Epson printers on sale. Not sure that they will, but that's when I've seen them on sale the most often.

Hark, I am in Canada, so buying from B&H is too costly due to the low Canadian dollar. But thanks for the advice. I am still confused at to the quality difference of the Artisan 1430 vs the P400. I priced refill cartridges and they work out the same for either unit. 6 vs 8... The1430 are more expensive but only 6...

I'm considering getting an A3 printer, and Epsom is high on my list of contenders - they seem to do a very good job, I'm interested to see what you end up with and your feedback on it.

Fair enough. I don't know which would be better but suggest you read through some Amazon reviews of both printers. Doing a quick look at the Artisan 1430 tells me banding is an issue. I didn't read through reviews of the P400 so can't say whether it would be better or not.

Well I bit the bullet and bought a P400. Now I realize that most of my shots aren't worth printing... I wish I would learn from my mistakes.. hahaha

Finally tried the P400. It has very good print quality. But there are a lot of settings. I did two 5x7s. First one I forgot to click "borderless". The second gave me borders on 2 sides.. Not sure why.. A person could waste a lot of ink learning..haha But once I learn the settings, I think it will be a very good printer to have.
