I have one filter to my name a circular polarizing filter, seen different brands of filters which vary in price, dont want to buy poor filters, so what ones are best?

One set that I have gotten used to using other than my CPL is split ND filters. Really great for sunsets/sunrises since they let you balance the exposures between the sky and earth.

So Don if i was to buy Cokin filters for a 77mm wide lens what do i need to get?

THese filters are square filters so large enough to cover the lens.

I think this is the one I have.

I like the filter holder but you have to get adapters to fit the lens you have. My mentor I shoot with locally all the time taught me to use these filters but he never uses a holder. He hand holds them in front of the lens. Sometimes more than 1 at the time to get the look he is after. He is a master at shooting. I like the holder because my hands are arthritic so sometimes not so easy to hold and shoot. I also like using them hand held instead of always using a tripod. Hand holding the filters generally requires the camera to be tripod mounted.
