Manfrotto compact advanced tripod

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone used this tripod? My setup is pretty light and I want something real portable. Need a 3 way head for astrophotography with my barn door tracker.

Kit I'm using at most is barn door tracker (less than 1kg), D5100 and either sigma 17-70C or tamron 70-300 lens. Total a touch over 2kg max.

Anyone using it please do you have any opinions?

I havent used it but I have one very similar from Vanguard

I have THIS one, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight tripod, ive used it with a D600 gripped with a 50-500 Bigma mounted to it with no problems

No problem thought I would throw it out there

Whats the issue with ball heads? The one on the Vanguard is very sturdy and I get no creep

Not so much creep but adjusting all axis at once doesn't lend itself well to Astro, I need to be able to align each axis separately so get an accurate polar alignment.
