Wireless Flash Triggers

Any advice on which to get? Doesn't need to be fancy, just needs to work properly. I feel like wired ones would be too limiting.

Well TTL or non?
if non, then you have a plethora of them available.
if TTL... then it's gonna get expensive. The cheaper of the bunch is Yongnuo, then you can go up from there... Pocket Wizard, Phottix Odin... etc...

I recently got the Yongnuo triggers and they were so easy to use and it is great that you can control the flash power from the camera and not have to go to the flashes to adjust. The price is not bad either

Does commander mode do the triggering?

Commander mode will do triggering via an infrared signal. Works well indoors with line of sight, not as reliable outdoors.

I own both the Yongnuo's that Don mentioned, as well as the Phottix Stratos radio triggers. The price for the Yongnuo's is hard to beat and I don't think you can go wrong there. The YN622s will do iTTL as well as support HSS (if your flash/body does too), and has been dependable for me.

Is there a big difference between TTL and non?

yes, ttl is not accurate, repeatable and consistent with OCF. the camera is guessing exposure for you. manual power can be adjusted with a 560/622tx verszions and theyre REPEATABLE. ive used my 622n in ttl and it sucks azs. it has an excellent af assist beam though.

just be aware that when its on the camera, and no matter what camera youre using, it will basically bring it down to shoot at 3fps. you can also adjust power output of the OCF (supported flash models) buy doing a sequence of button pressing. which is like trying to read a foreign language for the first time. there is a mkII version to be launched soon and the canon version was just released I believe.

which wired triggers did you see? are you referring to the the old school pocket wizards models?

I would suggest you get triggers that allow you to mount a flash on it as well. 603II 622n 605 as well. they allow ttl pass through to the camera.

Well like rocketman explained already, the difference is the adjust-ability and to change most settings on the fly from the TTL compatible unit. Whereas, with non TTL, you will need to manually adjust settings from the flash units themselves as the triggers will only set off the flash when it reads that the shutter button is pressed.
This is where, "you get what you pay for" comes into play. Now once again, this is only where a flash unit is also TTL compatible. So if the flash unit and transceiver/receiver is not TTL compatible it will not allow for remote adjustments.
