Post Tripod Ball Heads worth recommending!

I've seen a lot of posts about tripods and ball heads, and I also see a ton of posts looking for something better than what they already have! Yes that includes me! Lol ;)

So I was thinking how both tripods and ballheads are very important to those of us who use them. So I started this thread just to explore ball heads that we find are excellent and worth recommending! Now obviously there are not going to be a ton of inexpensive ball heads we can whole heartedly recommend completely. But we can say where they are lacking in case that is an issue for someone looking for one like it in that price range! :)

I guess I'll start this off. I have two ball heads now, both being ARCA swiss brand. One is a fairly new design and the other an older design.

The newer design that I can highly recommend is the ARCA swiss monoball Z1 SP! It's smooth, super strong, and I can't think of what it couldn't handle in my ball head needs for a lifetime! It's not cheap, but to me it's worth ever dollar of the $400.00 they tend to go for new! I believe this one can handle 135lbs max weight! Wow! :)

Now here is something that might help perk your ears up, if you liked the idea of the Z1, but the cost made it less appealing!
This older design has much of what the newer version has, but with a possibility of a much lower price if you are patient in your searching! The arca swiss B1 monoball ball head is another very strong ball head! I would say it is a bit less smooth, but still very cool ball head for sometimes less than $200.00 used but in great working order! I bought mine for $175.00 counting shipping, and I can see this one handling a lifetime shot for me too! :) I believe this one can handle 90lbs max weight! Very cool huh? :)

So anyway there is two ball heads I can whole heartedly recommend! I doubt they could bench press your truck, but I sure can't imagine a DSLR they couldn't handle easily! Lol ;)

Once I found the Airhed II I knew my search was over. There isn't a single thing I don't love about this ball-head. Rated for a maximum load that borders on the insane (88 pounds, or 40kg) it's worth every penny. The Airhed I is a little cheaper, though, but has a lighter max-load capacity of "only" (heh) 77 pounds, or 35kg. I'd need a Sherpa to lug that much kit...
