Rocketfish Filters

Our Best Buy is clearancing the Rocketfish filters. I think they are changing to Insignia. Does anybody have any experience with them? I bought a UV one with my camera and it does what it is supposed to and I haven't had any bad yet. They have the circular polarizer for 9.99. It was originally 18.99. Is it worth a try?

In all honesty, I haven't tried that brand since I bought my d40 years ago. You might loose image quality due to be a cheaper brand, but at that price its worth a shot. For the circular polarizer you could have some issues and I am sure others will chime in to confirm or deny.

What exactly is the UV filter doing for your camera? Just kind of curious. You do know that purchasing something like a UV filter is only just for protecting the front element these days as your lens/camera already would have items that block off harmful uv rays from affecting the image.
A CPL and maybe an ND filter would probably be a better bet to purchase, and more over ND if you can get them in different stops (or a variable ND filter), otherwise you could stack the CPL and ND filter for an additional stop.
But just saying... If they have an ND I would go ND... Otherwise well do the CPL as it's only $10. If you don't like it, it's not a huge burden removed out of wallet.

I'd pass on everything "Rocketfish". I purchased one with my 35mm 1.8 as protection (Looking back now I really don't think I needed it) and I got sort of a green banding in the photos...I took it off and trashed it.

I've never had any problems with these "rocketfish", so filtering them out hasn't been a priority. Don't get close to the water, you should be fine. As far as CP filters, even $18.99 falls in the extremely cheap category.
