Are there any users of a Nero Trigger here on the forum?

I've been asked to write a review on the Nero Trigger (see NeroTrigger) and it has finally arrived today. But before I get started, I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with it (not to mention help if I get stuck). Ideally I'd like to add to the review comments from others here on Nikonites as to their experiences with it, too. So if any of you are a Nero user, send me an email at davidwinnphotography at gmail dot com.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have one, and I'm not too happy with it. I spent some time last weekend getting to know it and I ma so far very, very disappointed BUT I am hoping that is because I'm not doing things right. Some key issues:

Lightning mode - can't get it to work (maybe my camera configuration). Tested by flashing torch at different Nero sensitivity settings. Nada.
Sound mode - only triggers an external flash with appropriate port (which I don't have), not the shutter.
Timelapse - not interested as my 7100 has that already.
Laser - needs a receiver (not supplied).
HDR - not tried.
DIY - ditto.

So, unless someone tells me I'm being a mutt (possible), I intend to return it and find something better. I want to capture lightning, air rifle pellets, exploding balloons, breaking plates/glasses, etc. and with this item I don't see how I can. :(

Hey Dave I have used mine extensively on the D800E with lightning and sound, it works perfectly and with the adjustable sensitivity you can fine tune it so you do not get too many black shots although its better to be more sensitive than less with lightning as you do not want to miss out on the pre-flash that is sometimes before the major strike. With the sound I was playing around with it at work and was able to trigger the Nero with a hand clap.

I have not tried the other modes but have ideas for using the laser set up.

Not sure how yours connects but check the pins on the camera side of the cable I found one bent and after I straightened it with a needle it worked again, this was my user error when putting the cable in at night time.

This is perfect, Thanks! I'd like to include both your opinions in the review. I'll contact you two in a week or two for a quote.

I have emailed the suppliers to see if it's a D7100 compatibility. Big mistake, if so, by me as I recall reading that the D7000 connector would work with the 7100.

Update: the suppliers (Adorama) Teflonned this straight to Nero. Contacted Nero direct in Turkey via their web site. Practically by return they declared the trigger was probably faulty and offered to send me a replacement without the original returned to them. That tells me (1) they know there are faulty units and (2) they have great customer care to deal with the issue. Possibly (3) they make so much profit on them they can afford this sort of unquestioning response. Any which way, I'll report back when I've had a chance to play with the replacement when it arrives.

Very impressed with company so far!

So @Dave_W, did you ever write this review? I'm very interested in your thoughts. I'm this close to ordering one for all sorts of reasons, but in every video I've seen of someone using it thus far it seems like it's either almost there, or that there's a real learning curve to know what it can and can't do in certain modes, and to figure out just how to deal with the delay in the triggering of the shutter.

I am also ready to buy, would have already but spent my disposable cash on a firearm.. saving again! :)
