Freebie! 180* Split Prism Focus Screen To anyone who really wants to try one

I have a brand new (Chinese made) 180 degree split prism focus screen that fits Nikon D80, D90, D200, D300 and possibly more.

I bought it, installed it, tried it, didn't like it, removed it, wrapped it up and put it back in its little plastic case.

This cost me about $25.00 shipped so it is a much cheaper option than the Katz Eye brand.

It's free to anyone who wants to try it.

This is really only useful to someone who uses manual focus, mostly used in macro photography, or someone who cannot focus easily using the plain matte focus screen that comes factory stock with these cameras.

I only ask that, if you don't really have need for this, let it go to someone who does.

If it will fit a D7000 I'll give it a try. If not, I'll let the next person have it since that's the only camera I have at the moment.

The split prism has a dark area to it that blocks a birds eye when I am shooting wildlife. I always try to make sure I can see the eye so I can get perfect focus on the eye.

I have had older cameras that came with split prism focus screens and they didn't block the subject like this one does.

The label does not list the D7000/D7100 so I don't know for sure. Looking on eBay it appears they are the same. Do you want to check and make sure?

That could be a problem. Although it wouldn't be so for my many opportunities to photograph the birds' other end!! :hopelessness:

Are you going to try the Katz Eye later on?

If I can ever afford one I would love to try it. I like a split prism but I need to be able to see through it.

Sure. I'll give it a try to see. If it works I'll see if I like it. If it doesn't work or I don't like it, I'll pay it forward and offer it for free to the next person.

I did pick up this package today. Thanks for the freebie. I'll try it on the camera and if it won't work, I will post here again to offer it to the next person.
