Which CPL filter?

Looking at getting a CPL filter and would appreciate any input.

-Is the nikon worth the premium for the name? (or is it priced right for the level of quality?)

-What do you folks recommend as far as the best quality for under $100

Thanks!

I personally like and use Tiffen filters. If it's good enough for the big movie companies, it's good enough for me. :) Hoya is another excellent brand, but pricey. B+W is another. But for my money, I like Tiffen.
What size filter are you looking for? I forgot to mention........the larger the filter, usually the larger the price. :)

Always remember, the quality of your picture depends on the glass you use. When using a filter, its glass becomes part of the equation.
Buy reputable brands like Tiffen as Jack mentioned, Hoya, B+W, Cokin, Nikon. Stay away from china filters.

Jack- Didn't think to look at size yet, luckily a 52mm willl cover what I have (18-55 and 55-200) and my next purchase which will be the 35mm.

Ranie- Interesting you bring up Country of origin. My Camera and kit lens are from Thailand yet (disappointed) 55-200 is from China. I'll pay more close attention to this before future purchases. Wondering now where the Nikon filters are made.

Im sorry if I mentioned or single out the country of origin. We are talking of filters here. I just happen to encounter a lot of this filters with sub standard glass used on them. Actually, I have tried some before ( the copy of the cokin P square filter ) and to tell you frankly, im disappointed with them.
Now, speaking of cameras, Nikon DX bodies are all made in Thailand. Only their FX (full frame bodies) are made in Japan. Lenses (kit lens) are also made in Thailand. Some cheaper (non Kit) lenses are either China or Thailand. The higher end lenses and pro-lenses are made in Japan. The Nikon filters on the other hand, their glass are from Hoya. So its pretty much safe that they have very good quality in terms of transparency.
