Creative way to carry wireless remote

I just received my wireless remote for my D5100. It is a "For Nikon" and not a Nikon but it was cheap and it works just fine so no problem there. It is very small but I would assume that it is about the same size as the Nikon version. My question is how do people carry these around so that they don't drop them, lose them, have problems getting their hands on it when they need to?

My real Nikon remote came with a pouch with 2 slits for a camera strap. Of course the strap is usually not attached to the camera when I need the remote, but its usually somewhere nearby. Maybe something like a luggage tag pouch could hold work to tie to your bag or strap. For as cheap as I got my spare, I would not be opposed to gluing a loop on it or maybe some velcro. I've been thinking about this myself so I could keep one on the strap and one with the tripod.

Velcro might be a good choice. But was really thinking more along the lines of when I am actually shooting. Hands full, thinking about the shot etc. Maybe a Vinyl Luggage Tag Holder on a lanyard?

I don't have a wireless remote for any of my cameras but I do have remote receivers for my flashes. I got some adhesive backed velcro at Wally World and stuck the pile part on the flash head and the hook part on the receiver itself. They stay attached to the flash all the time but I could remove them just as easily and toss them in my camera bag. As for the wired remote I use for my D700, I always make a point to put it back in the same pocket in my camera bag each time, that way I always know where it is.

If you are thinking to keep it handy during use, the luggage tag might be a nuisance. Maybe a small fat, tight rubber band around the remote and then a small loop of string around the band to clip a lanyard to?
