Left handedness exists in approximately 10% of the population and this number has remained the same as far back as human history goes. Careful analysis of stone tools show this same ratio of left to right handedness existed at least 400,000 yrs ago. Interestingly, lefties comprise approximately 20% of all college students leading some to postulate that left handed people are smarter than right handed people. Moreover, the list of US presidents show a strong preference for left handedness. Presidents Ford, Reagan, Bush (41), Clinton and Obama are all left handed.

There is also a belief that left handed individuals are more apt to be artists relative to right handed people. So with this in mind, I would like to know what the percentage of left to right handed people we have here on the Nikonites board. And for full disclosure, I am left handed.

All Right handed..
I remember as a kid in New York city schools, that every time a left handed kid wrote the teach stopped them and said that they needed to write with there right hand,,

I am all right handed. I thought it interesting that all pencils or pens that have writing on them favor the righties. I know some school districts are allotted a certain percentage of left handed desks.

I'm left-handed. My wife is left-handed. On our wedding day the best man was left-handed, as was the minister who took the ceremony. My uncle was left handed, as is two of his three daughters, and all of whom are great artists. My Dad was an engineer, and I seem to have inherited his technical ability as well as some of my uncle's artistic ability. My qualifications are all in technical subjects, such as computer science, engineering and geography. As for my brother, who is right-handed, he is the genius of the family, with two Bachelor's Degrees, a Post Graduate Diploma and a PhD (all in the Arts). Having said that he has neither a technical or artistic bone in his body. He's the only person I know, if you gave him a hammer a nail and a piece of wood, would manage to bend or break one of the three...

I forgot...my grandfather was left handed too. I just remembered when you mentioned punching. He had, I don't know what you would call it, an unusual thing in his arms, and when he clenched fists his wrist bones would lock; the doctor warned him never to hit anybody in the face, or he would risk driving their jaw through the back of their head...

I was born left handed and wanted to do everything left handed. In school, they would whack you with a ruler if you didn't hold your pencil right handed.

• I shoot hockey left
• I wanted to play golf left, but they made me learn it right
• I am left eye dominant, which means I can fire a rifle to save me life!

I can basically write with both hands and both are equally illegible.
I am good at golf, but most likely, never got as good as I could have had I learned the LEFT way.

I punched the ambidextrous.

Hey, you asked .... :p
