I regularly check Craigslist for Nikon deals. I've noticed that there are at least 5 Canon cameras for sale for every Nikon. That was in Cleveland as well as south Florida. I wonder what that means...... hmmmmm.

:suspicion:

Perhaps it's because of you Ted. Maybe you are secretly converting people in these aras, but are just not ready to reveal yourself yet :) It's a theory anyhow...

I regularly check Kijiji here in Calgary for Nikon deals, and yeah, for every Nikon, there are 5 or more Canons for sale. All models of Canon. My theory is they're finally smartening up and getting Nikons! ;)

All speculations. They could be upgrading to the Canon 5d Mk III, small portion may have shifted to the D800, and the rest probably due to financial needs or lack of interest in photography.

I agree with the posts of gqtuazon and cnyram. Canon users are just as loyal as WE are. Besides, its a known fact that Canon has more marketshare.

I think they all wanted Nikons ;)...
I saw that here as well. I believe there are a lot more canons out there in the market place and some much lower priced than the Nikon's. Maybe they were dissatisfied with the quality or just upgraded. The one's I saw the most of were from their Rebel line.

I don't have a problem with Canons, I think all beginner should start out with one :) :)

Actually most my friends have Canons, believe me they are NOT missing a thing. Remember it's the person not gear that composes the photo :)

I know there is lots of speculation, but this is my experience. I love to chat up sales guys in camera stores on slow days. I have been into a few lately and the story is always the same. The D800 sales continue to be ON FIRE as is interest in other Nikon cameras, low end especially.

Inventory of the D800 comes in and goes out just as fast, the pace hasn't really slackened yet.

5d Mk III? How many you want? Lots of stock. Why? Minimal interest and no pre-orders when it came out! Regular Canon people are coming in asking or buying D800's.

Sling your D800 over your shoulder and walk into any photo store and see how easily a conversation strikes up!

No one cares what the 5d Mk III images are like. Everyone wants to know how you are enjoying your D800.
