It is so easy to look through the VF and forget you need to see where you are going. I am a danger to myself most of the time without the aid of a camera.

Funny this came up, I stopped a lady from backing up into a cholla cactus yesterday when I was in Joshua Tree National Park. Best part is she was taking a photo of her husband/boyfriend and he didn't say anything as she was backing closer and closer to the cactus.
Also lots of tourists sitting in their cars picking cholla needles from their shoes and sandaled feet. Watch your surroundings.

I've never backed into anything, but I've walked forward into things using an über-wide or fisheye. My FF Siggy FE has a scratched hood walking into a concrete wall.
