Changes at flickr

I'm on Pro version now and lately have pondered giving that up and trying to go back to free. I don't really use it all that much but I may reconsider now. One part of the article that concerns me are the additional changes they plan that they haven't made public yet.

I paid the $50 right off the bat. I have 9000+ photos (not all are public) uploaded, and in the last few years I have been uploading the full-sized JPEGs, even though they don't display (as full sized) on mobile devices. That way the full-sized photo can still be downloaded.

The best thing about Flickr is how easy it is to share photos or albums with other people. They don't need an account to see your photos, unlike Facebook or Instagram or Snapchat (or the old Kodak photo website). The discussion groups are actually pretty good, too.

I found something interesting. Since Flickr's announcement about changing their plans (I think early November) my STATS page shows my photos have zero views. Granted I don't try to promote myself or drive traffic to my photos. But even still I guess through basic searches my photos still get 10-200 views a day. But it's completely flatlined. So I'm guessing this announcement has driven folks away and traffic away as well. Either that or my photos just stink. ;)

I gave up on Flickr, 102 pictures uploaded since 2015... 1400 photo views.
I started uploading to Youpic.com a year ago and have almost 119000 photo views for the same amount of pictures. I have the free account. 1 picture has been viewed over 24000 times, I think the most viewed picture I had on Flickr was maybe 45 times.

It works for me. I can see the duck and read the EXIF, too. Are you sharing from Smugmug, Kevin?
