A short time ago, I received an email from B&H about the rewards I've earned from buying through them. It's been a very long time since I received any rewards from them, and I've bought a lot! I was stoked to see this!

Congratulations! You have earned B&H Rewards points in the amount of $528, which has been issued to you as an E-Rewards Card.

Wow! $528. My mind began racing through all the things I'd like to have. Then I scrolled down a little father and saw the rest of the message...

I would print and show them the letter.

I went through their web site to contact them. It's an online form that didn't allow any attachments. I finally heard back from someone. First I will post what I initially wrote, then I will follow up with his response...and then my response to what he said.

My initial contact through their website said:

Customer's Name: Cindy Johnson

A little while ago, I received an email from B&H telling me the following:

"Congratulations! You have earned B&H Rewards points in the amount of $528, which has been issued to you as an E-Rewards Card."

I was stoked and my mind raced through all the things I'd like to have! Then I scrolled the rest of the way through the message.

I wish I could include a screenshot. The rewards card is for $5.28. Really? As much as I love B&H, I hope you understand I am going to have a little fun with this. Considering the thousands I've spent over the past few years, I sure thought the amount would have been a little higher. Lol. :)

Regards,
Cindy E Johnson

So this is the response I received from one of their employees:

Hello Cindy, my name is Paul:

Thank you for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

All B&H customers can earn Rewards every time they shop for eligible merchandise while logged in to their B&H account on the B&H website. If you have B&H online account, you are automatically signed up for the My B&H Rewards Program.

Not all items offered on the B&H website have Rewards offered with them. Rewards are calculated as a specified percentage of the item's purchase price. The percentage is usually 2% or 4% of the purchase price and will be displayed right below the price on the product page. This will let you know that the item is eligible for the Rewards Program.

Rewards are automatically issued 40-60 days after the order has shipped in the form of B&H e-Gift Card. At that time, you will receive an email with a picture of a B&H gift card displaying a unique 16 digit card number and four digit PIN. These displayed numbers are not examples but your actual card information and are unique to that particular issuance of Rewards.

Each time you receive Rewards, you will receive brand new card information. The card will be valid for a period of six months and can be applied towards any future orders placed through our website, over the phone or in our NYC SuperStore.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance.

Thank you, we appreciate your business.

I attached the above screen shot. And my latest reply to the B&H employee is:

Thank you for responding, Paul, but you did not understand the problem. The email says I earned $528; however, the card to redeem says I only earned $5.28. That little decimal point makes a HUGE difference. Attached is a screen shot.
Regards,
Cindy Johnson

Earlier today I received the following message. After Christmas, I ordered a 50mm f/1.8 AF-D which is where the rewards came from (according to this message). I understand the glitch, but I'm surprised he didn't say anything about the error being their fault.

I wish they would have the rewards available as a credit option when checking out. What happens when people don't receive the emails? You have to enter a code to redeem them.

Message from B&H rep:

Wow that's a bummer... sorry for that mishap. I like B&H for several reasons, but I don't know why, whenever I can buy somewhere else I usually do (like Adorama). Often times the B&H deals are hard to pass up though. I hope it doesn't happen again.
