Nikon's Next Mirrorless Will Be Full-Frame

I think Nikon has dragged its feet for far too long. Even with the built-in selling power of Nikon branding, Sony and Fuji are two huge obstacles in Nikon's path to significant mirror-less market share now. Nikon waited and Sony stepped up to fill the void in a big, BIG way. Nikon could, I suppose, have another Kraken of a camera in the wings ready to be unleashed, and I really hope they do... But I'm not holding my breath.

What I did not like with Nikon, they are planning for new mount for mirrorless camera. As a result even many may be willing to shift to mirrorless the old bunch of lens will be a hindrance.
Moreover every time one need to carry two sets of lenses. Nikon should make the mirrorless camera with f mount, other wise the market for mirrorless may not pickup.

Reading this, and the bragging about over 80 years of experience that Fuji/Sony just can't catch up to...reminds me of the voice technology discussions in the 90s and how Nortel would outlast everyone because they had been doing "phones" for over 100 years. Not long after making that statement, Nortel was bankrupt. I hope the same fate does not await Nikon.

I see value in Nikon going full frame first. Sony has both full and crop, with the most traction in the crop sensor space. Fuji is big in crop sensors as well. The full frame segment is less congested, and probably allows Nikon to keep the F mount glass and not need to do something new to save size/weight. If they departed from their existing lens mount, I don't think they could pull over enough users to be viable.
