I have a Sandisk 95mb/s V30 U3 class 10 64 gig card that I got with my Nikon D500 from B&H camera and It has been working fine but now I am getting the message below. I have reformatted it in the camera several times with the same results. Other cards work just fine. The card does say made in china on the back side. Any help to get this problem corrected would be appreciated.

Have you tried reformatting the SD card in your computer? This is the only way to correct potentially bad sectors on the SD card; formatting the card in-camera is NOT the same thing at all. To do a true reformatting of an SD card use the SD Card Reformatter. You should know this process will take several minutes. Go put on a kettle or something because a 64GB card is going to need some time.

Once reformatted in your PC, you'll need to reformat the card in your camera. Then you'll be good to go.

If still no joy, you definitely have a defective card.

From what I've read, Fish's suggestion is really good. Just want to add that when I read the title of the thread, I began to think we need a Nikonites Anonymous sub forum. ;)

In all seriousness, I hope you get it resolved. :encouragement:

I put the card in my D600 and formatted it and then put it in my D500 and it took pictures and I could get them off and work on them in PhotoShop. Then I put my XQD card in the camera along with the SD card and formatted the SD card and it started working. It is working now and I have a shoot tomorrow for my neighbor His mom is having her 100th birthday and all the families will be there and want pictures. I have my D500 and D600 both set to raw with fine JPEG with backup on the second card. I checked out all my Pocket Wizards, flashes and umbrellas including stands and brackets and I think I am ready to go. All batteries for the cameras and flashes are charged up and I also have extras. I am a firm believer in having backups for everything. Thanks everyone for your input and ideas.

A year ago my wife had a SDHC card go wonky in her Nikon P100, costing her some lost shots. She messed around with reformatting it on the PC and camera and the card appeared to be restored. I suggested to her that in view of future risk and minimal cost of a new card, she should throw it away.

Shortly thereafter while traveling on our 25th Anniversary, the card failed again. (Note that I did not say to her, "I told you so". )

We bought a copy of RescuePRO and recovered the shots, but the lesson was learned. In my experience, I suggest throwing it away or calling B&H for a replacement.

Do to the fact I have a shoot tomorrow and two trips right after that with one being to Disney World I think I will put this card on the shelf until I have some time to properly deal with it and just not take the chance of a recurrence. This along with the update, and Paul's advice sound like very good advice, THANKS!!!

May your checkup be great news and your Disney trip be fantastic.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I expect exactly what you said to happen. I decided probably 25 years ago that I was either going to have a really good day or sometimes just a good day, but I refuse to have bad days. occasionally I will get to the lower end of a good day but that is as far as I go..... I just refuse to have bad days!!! I am probably one of the most positive people you could ever meet. Thanks again!
