I am trying to use dropbox to send pics to this site. I understand that they should be NEF pics. So I convert the photo to NEF and move it to dropbox. Now I share with who or do I create a link and send that along with post. Please tell me how to do that. Paul

You need to upload your NEF to Dropbox then share the link. That way people can download the file.

But if you want to post images to this site so they show up in the threads, they need to be jpegs and can be uploaded directly. What are you trying to do? If you want people to look at your NEF and take a stab at editing it, uploading to Dropbox and sharing the link is the way to go.

I want fellow photographers to be able to see my EXIF info. Paul
The fastest, easiest way to do this is to 1. Resize the .JPG image you want to post to 1,000 pixels on the long edge before uploading to here, to Nikonites, and 2. Use the Insert Image button on the toolbar when making your post.

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

Having not used LR, another thought/question came to mind on the EXIF data. Is there a setting in LR to turn off (for lack of better terms) saving with EXIF data? I know there is in GIMP. You can save/export with or without the EXIF data.

Yes, Lightroom allows you to select what parts (if any) of the EXIF and metadata are stripped on export. My typical export setting strips everything but copyright info, but that can be tailored as needed.
