Over on CWOM we've been discussing and planning a fall meet-up in upstate New York. The idea is thanks to Rick M. We have settled on October 8-9 in/around Watkins Glen and are discussing logistics now. Anyone from Nikonites interested? I'll be driving up from Philly and up for ride sharing! The thread is located here!

Wish I could, but I'm a caregiver 24/7.

For those who aren't familiar with this area of the country, the leaves should be turning fall colors by that time. No doubt there will be LOTS of gorgeous photos from this!

Eduard, since I don't go to the other site much, when photos are posted there from this trip, would you please post a link? I'd love to see the results!

I'd love to attend, but alas, it's right in the middle of marching band season for both college and high school. Thank you for the offer!

Way too funny but I'll actually be in Watkins Glen... on October 1st & 2nd. LOL The heads up on Fillmore Glen SP is appreciated, though. The missus and I are getting away for a long weekend, so I suspect that even if it was the right weekend I'd be unavailable.

If'n y'all are coming up, know that this place is bone dry. Seriously bone dry. Watkins Glen SP is OK with the water, but just about every other gorge & waterfall has next to nothing. Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca is a single trickle down the face. Lucifer Falls is a little better, but only the top 1/2 mile is worth the hike. Colors are just starting to come in the last day or two, so at least you'll have that.

I can't make it because we just came back from Italy and have family stuff to attend to this coming weekend. I would have loved to though.

For those familiar, this is a look at Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca. The bottom area is normally full for swimming. Water levels are down 2-3 feet, and there's a trickle on the falls.

But as I said, colors are starting to show up.

The shutdown got rescheduled where I work. So, I'm out. As Jake pointed out. The leaves are just starting to turn. So Watkins Glen should be scenic. Man, I haven't been to Buttermilk Falls in years.
