My D750 automatic lens defogger is broken. (Still makes a great Latte)

Can I do anything about lenses fogging up?

It has been so hot and humid here lately that getting in and out of the car will instantly fog up my lenses. (Cold air conditioned car to outside heat and humidity)

Yesterday morning was quite frustrating. I get out of the car, and there is a bluebird singing in the trees. I aim my camera and lens and I can't see anything. All fogged up. I go to wipe it down with my favorite Nikonites lens cloth, aim the thing again and it's fogged up instantly.
I could not keep the lens fog free no matter what I tried. Obviously I missed the shot, as the bluebird had better things to do then to sit there and wait for me.

Is there a solution, some kind of liquid that I can apply to the front element. I know they have something like this for cars where your windshield won't get fogged up, but I'm not rubbing anything on my lenses unless it is especially made for this purpose.

Camera on the trunk? There might be enough difference there to keep it from happening. Otherwise, as others said, insulate. Even having it my camera bag helps.

Put your camera in a small Yeti cooler while you drive... It'll stay at ambient, while you drive with the AC on high...

Today it was fine. I think the problem yesterday was, that it was also very foggy outside. Today i just wiped it down once and it stayed clear while outside..

(still laughing at Mareks's suggestion.):p

If it keeps happening in the future, the .99 StyroFoam ice chest in the vehicle should keep the camera warmer than the AC Temp.

There are sprays for welding helmet lenses for working in cold weather. It is supposed to help to slow down the fogging inside the helmet from your breath. I have never needed to use it in SE AZ and I don't think I would want to use it on a camera lens either.

It's gotten so hot/humid here in the midwest that when I want to take backyard photos, I put a kit in my garage for an hour to warm it up prior to going outside. Much better than trying to wipe off foggy glass.

I'm more of a "drive around and stumble upon stuff" shooter. I may put a toaster oven in the pickup and set it at a 120F . I can keep the gear warm and heat up leftover pizza at the same time.:encouragement:
