Pistol Shot Recorded at 73,000 Frames Per Second

Actually, my D7100 has the ability to shoot 73,000 frames/second. But because of the buffer size it caps out at 5 frames. ;)

But it is continuous light, so actually, a big part of the achievement is about the providing and the capturing of the light. 73000 frames/second is at most 1/73000 second exposures... The lens aperture would need to be opened 9 more stops to match a 1/142 second exposure...

f/32 to f/1.4 is nine stops. For a tiny scene like this one, it does seem possible to provide f/32 light with a f/1.4 lens.

Otherwise it has to provide more light capturing capabilities.

That also proves that, with a decent grip, there is no recoil effect on your point of aim because the bullet was long gone from the barrel before the pistol moved at all. It would be neat to see the same shot with a very loose grip on the pistol to see if there's any movement of the gun before the bullet leaves.
