Which is the best free AV for android

Wife and i have bought a couple of cheap phones and need anti virus on them,wife uses Avast on her laptop and was thinking the same for the phones,any thing better.

I use AVG... they have a free version too... works well - well, seems to. No virus's to date.

You don't need AV for a smart phone being Android or Snapple .

Anti-virus apps on Android are useless. They cause more problems than they solve. All you need is common sense. I've been using Android since 2011 with no Av apps and nothing has happened.

This may be an unpopular suggestion, but guy man, its a PHONE. PHONE. What AV?

No AV is the best AV. Unnecessary resource hog.

I've have a android based phone for a few years now, (Samsung S2 and S4) never had a Anti-virus app on, and the phones have been fine.
