I like clarkson and his dumbassness-at times. like a big oaf with no class sometimes. its entertaining. the patagonia special was a crock a **** . they knew what they were doing with those license plate number. coincidence my a**. they got what they deserved when they were attacked like that. going into the other country and taunting them like that about the falkland wars is wrong. many died in that war.

if he leaves top gear I think it will be the end of the show. top gear US is meh and top gear australia is crap. I hate how things are just too scripted.

Every part and word of that show was scripted, the jokes, the 'spontaneity', the TG challenges etcetera, and i did have to put that out of my mind a lot to watch it. That said, i'm sad its gone

Agree but do wonder if they had done most things they could and we where getting more and more rehashed situations.

run its course? the ratings for the show is probably at the highest its ever been. close to anyways.

who cares if he hit the producer. pay the producer some money and move on. the show is entertaining. I love the photography and editing. fifth gear is not a replacement. for some reason reaso they just dont have the magic. although its a different feel altogether. I hate the woman in that show.

itd be such a waste for bbc to be stubborn about this. hamster cant lead the show and may is too boring for that crowd. clarkson and the shrimp work well together.

I dont work any more now but when i did if i had hit any other member of staff i would have been fired,i could ignore his verbal comments on things as these where done for effect and gain column lines in the papers, resorting to physical violence was a step too far for me as much as i enjoyed him and the show.
He got what he deserved.

my personal opinion, I think theyre letting things cool donw and they will relaunch. and if not, clarkson for certain will get offers to do his own new show.

He could retire and make a considerable income from writing (which he's very good at). Other than that I'm sure the three of them would gladly move their pulling power with viewers to another network in competition with BBC

Most companies would indeed fire someone in that case, but would your company have fired you if by doing so, they would lose their biggest money making account? They would probably send you to some sort of rehab or fine you or something like that.

And yes the show is scripted, but largely by Clarkson. The show has no chance without him.

I enjoyed the silly antics along with the cars, and am sorry to see it go.

.
It was out in the public domain. If it hadn't been reported, and no one knew any different, then he might, just might have got away with it. The BBC had no choice, they were backed into a corner on this one. Any company here would have to do it, no matter how good you are. Violence in the workplace is instant dismissal, end of. If you don't dismiss the perpetrator, it sets a precedent and open the door to others being able to repeat those actions without fear of reprisals. It could also lead to personal Law suits against the aggressor, in which the Company can be open to some sort of liability.
(sigh) too much time with Employment Law!!!

Well how much of a "Hit" was it, reports of onlookers said it was more of a handbags at dawn and not an all out attack on him to injure him

The fact that they both went to work the next day as if nothing happened says a lot, If Clarkson didn't "hand himself in" would it have ever come out ?

The BBC were in a tough situation, let a star go and lose a massive cash cow or keep him on and not save face ... after all the controversies that the BBC has had over the last year they needed to save face but they did it gently (They didnt sack him they have not renewed the contract)

Its funny how they have let him go but they are still letting him do the Top Gear live's so they dont lose out on the money they already have, they already have a big refund to give out to other countries that have brought the series to be shown and they are missing 3 episodes

All 3 of them will group together (probably along with the producer) and go to another channel, they are all out of contract this month so there is no legal issues, we will see it come back just with a different name and setup I think :)

AFAIK, it s going to be called 'Clarkson, Hammond and May Live'. There's no Top Gear or BBC logo associated with the live shows. They're doing a show here in Sheffield apparently. Wouldn't mind going tbh, but I can imagine tickets will be gold dust and exchanging hands well upwards of 3 figures.

That is correct that the BBC have taken all the "Top Gear" elements out of it ... They still took the money for their percentage of the tickets though ...

A general ticket was around £80 to start with, I was looking at doing it with a mate down in London and the prices were unreal
