Hi, i'm a bit confused, as i have never been on a forum before, this is my first week and restarted Photography. i posted a thread during this past week, which is ok but when or hopefully you get a reply do you click reply to thread at the top (yellow box) or reply at the bottom in the 'reply box' or next to that box 'reply with qoute', & whats the difference between these two:confused:.

This is what happens when you use the "Reply With Quote
"
link below.

You see the original post along with your answer.

This is more appropriate when there are many posts in a thread and you are specifically answering or responding to just one of the posts in that thread and not to the thread overall.

Does that make sense?

Ok thanks, so if i just reply to that person if it was an on going Q & A's i just click reply at the bottom, as it seems i'm just answering my own post, as i have done here?

The only difference is that Reply with Quote copies (quotes) the message you are replying to. That indicates who you are talking to, and what you are talking about. Sometimes their message may not be the one immediately above yours, it could be higher in the thread, others in between (others can post while you are busy composing).

Reply just adds one more message to the thread. It could be a specific reply (as here), or some new discussion point.

Choose which you feel is more appropriate, or needed.

Using reply with quote makes it a LOT easier to see who you are responding to - you've probably seen some threads where there are multiple discussions going on, and it can get very hard to keep track of who said what.

For example, it's very obvious here that I am responding to your question. If I hadn't quoted you, it's much less clear whether I was responding to you, or to something WayneF said, or to just my own random thoughts. If you think about it, it's how conversations usually work in real life - you say something, then I respond to it, then you respond to that, etc. Here, we have a time lag, though, so the reply with quote helps keep things clear.

While we're at it here, how in the world does multi quote work?

Click on the multiquote icon in 2 or 3 messages above, and then Reply with Quote in the final one. All are quoted.

After you click on the on the last one click on
Reply With Quote

And all the ones you clicked on will show up like this post.

If you mean images in replies to the thread, in the compose box where you are typing a new reply, there is a row of icons above it. The middle of the five right ones is Insert Image. That will add it into your composed message, at the place where the cursor is.

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.
